Education
Education is the focus of New Performing Arts programming,
with the majority of our programs taking place on-site in
rural Kentucky schools. Educational legislation in Kentucky is
unlike any other state in the country, making this perhaps the
foremost laboratory in the United States for the development
of effective arts-education programs that truly focus upon the
arts.
 Standardized
testing in four arts disciplines for every child in the 5th,
8th and 11th grade makes the teaching of arts subjects
mandatory in every school in Kentucky. New Performing Arts
programs have proven to be highly effective in supporting the
efforts of local educators as they meet these stringent
requirements.
In addition to NPA’s school-based programs, New Performing
Arts has become a leader in teacher in-service training,
conference workshop facilitation, and other areas where
educators and artists collaborate.
